AG Sim brings El Hierro Airport to Microsoft Flight Simulator

Located on the smallest and most remote of Spain’s Canary Islands, El Hierro Airport (IATA: VDE, ICAO: GCHI) serves as a critical connection point for the island of El Hierro. Positioned near the capital town of Valverde, about 9 kilometers from the island’s center, the airport is surrounded by steep cliffs and open ocean, making it a challenging but rewarding location for flight operations. Domestic flights, primarily operated by Binter Canarias, link the airport to larger islands such as Tenerife and Gran Canaria. It also sees use for medical evacuations, pilot training, and occasional charters, supporting both tourism and essential services.

AG Sim has just released a detailed scenery package of El Hierro Airport for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. The add-on includes custom 3D models of all airport buildings, with a fully modeled terminal interior. Textures are presented in 8K resolution using PBR materials, and the airport layout reflects its 2025 configuration. Terrain and slope details have been adjusted to reflect the airport’s real-world topography, which is especially important given the elevation changes and runway environment. Additional elements such as accurate ground and traffic signage, animated 3D people, and ambient details contribute to a more lifelike airport atmosphere. The scenery is fully compatible with the 2024 edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator.
