Schönhagen Airport (EDAZ) is one of Germany's largest commercial airfields and is increasingly developing into an important relief airfield for Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER/EDDB). With approximately 45,000 aircraft movements per year and nearly 300 jobs across 41 companies, the airfield plays a significant role in the regional economy. Surrounded by the forested and lake-rich landscape of the Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park, Schönhagen is also a sought-after location for renowned flight schools, flying clubs, and aviation companies.

Aviation Sim Design has just released a highly detailed rendition of Schönhagen Airfield for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. The scenery not only includes the airfield itself but also features the heliport at Groß Kreutz, the helipad at Luckenwalde Hospital, an animated helicopter at BER, and the well-known World Balloon at Potsdamer Platz.

Depending on the time of day, day of the week, and season, the environment changes. Environmental elements such as ice, lawnmowers, joggers, and cyclists react to weather conditions such as temperature, rain, and snow. Acoustic details have also been included: at Groß Kreutz railway station, original station announcements can be heard, and a level crossing features animated barriers. A fully functional signal system switches from red to green as trains pass. Additionally, at Luckenwalde Hospital, an ambulance is on its way to pick up a patient.

The add-on is now available for $15.08 excluding VAT and can be purchased on Flightsim.to.
