Dfflyer Direct Releases Detroit & Windsor City Pack

Detroit, Michigan, and its Canadian neighbor Windsor have been brought to life in a new add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator, courtesy of Dfflyer Direct. Developed by a Detroit native with over 25 years of experience in the area, this city pack aims to deliver an authentic and detailed representation of both cities, showcasing hundreds of custom-made buildings, monuments, boats, and cityscapes. The add-on promises to enhance the virtual flying experience with immersive night lighting, animations, and ground texture improvements that go beyond the default scenery of Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The Detroit & Windsor City Pack includes over 200 handcrafted city buildings and 15 highly detailed monuments, featuring prominent landmarks such as the iconic Spirit of Detroit. The city’s sports culture is represented with three major stadiums — Comerica Park, Little Caesar's Arena, and Ford Field — each equipped with animated night lighting to create a dynamic atmosphere. Additional enhancements in the pack include 14 new construction buildings that are absent from the default version of the simulator, as well as 25+ blocks of custom street and sidewalk textures, aimed at removing baked shadows from satellite data for a cleaner look. Animations have been added to inject life into the cities, including a detailed simulation of "The People Mover" transit system, complete with three real-world train variants.

The pack’s night lighting is based on real-world sequences, with landmarks such as Little Caesar's Arena, Ford Field, Comerica Park, the Renaissance Center, and the historic Penobscot Building illuminated to match their real-life counterparts. The scenery also includes 16 marinas with custom boats, as well as the Gordie Howe International Bridge and the MacArthur Bridge to Belle Isle, both rendered with photogrammetry and water cleanup.

Tthe package uses high-quality PBR textures and employs multiple levels of detail (LOD) to optimize performance. Newly modeled structures include the Gordie Howe International Bridge, Little Caesar's Arena and World Headquarters, Huntington Tower, Hudson's Detroit and Hudson's Tower, and the Mike Ilitch School of Business, among others. The pack also features unique items like the Kaws "Waiting" statue in Campus Martius and the Detroit sign at the Monroe Street Midway.

Priced at $7.99 USD (excluding VAT), the Detroit & Windsor City Pack is now available for purchase on Flightsim.to.
