El Hierro Airport by Dektri - Canary Islands’ Smallest Hub

El Hierro Airport (GCHI) has long been known as one of Spain’s most distinctive regional airports, serving the smallest and westernmost of the Canary Islands. While its real-world operations focus primarily on short inter-island routes to Tenerife and Gran Canaria, the airport stands out for its award-winning service quality. Despite handling fewer than two million passengers annually, El Hierro has been recognized several times by ACI World as the “Best Airport in Europe” in its category, a reflection of Aena’s strong management and the airport’s commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Dektri’s new freeware rendition of ➡️ El Hierro for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 brings this island facility to life with careful attention to the real airport’s layout and topography. The scenery features an accurate retopology of the terrain and reproduces the runway’s real-world curvature, an important aspect given the airport’s position between rugged cliffs and the Atlantic coastline. All airport infrastructures, from hangars and service buildings to the main terminal, have been fully modeled, including a detailed terminal interior.

The package also includes accurately placed parking gates and construction details reflecting the airport’s status as of 2025. Note that the add-on is designed specifically for the default MSFS 2024 terrain elevation model.

As freeware, Dektri’s work adds another well-crafted destination to the growing collection of regional Spanish airports available in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
