Nestled in the southern Smoky Mountains near Hayesville, North Carolina, Tusquittee Valley is a serene location marked by its natural beauty and a unique connection to Cherokee culture. At its heart lies Tusquittee Landing, a private 2,700-foot grass airstrip that offers an idyllic setting for general aviation enthusiasts. This airstrip, designated NC08, has been recreated in a newly released add-on by NoticalMyles, now available on Flightsim.to.

Tusquittee Landing’s runway, aligned to 10 and 28 degrees, features a freshly-mown grass surface surrounded by lush pastures. Its setting along Tusquittee Creek, coupled with the surrounding rolling peaks, ensures scenic departures and landings, making it a perfect location for those who appreciate the tranquility of rural aviation. This add-on also brings a touch of local culture to life by incorporating the history behind the name “Tusquittee”. Derived from the Cherokee phrase meaning “Where the Water Dogs laughed” it reflects the valley’s unique biodiversity, particularly its salamanders.

NoticalMyles has further enhanced the immersion with two custom weather presets designed for the airfield. “Smoky Mountain Mist” introduces a light valley mist for serene sunrise and daytime flights, while “Misty Mountain Hop” blankets the area in a dense fog that reveals the iconic smoky haze of the surrounding mountain ranges. These presets offer dynamic atmospheres for exploring the airstrip and its picturesque environment.
While the add-on is fully compatible with MSFS2020, the developer has noted that it is under construction for MSFS2024. Although it functions in the new simulator, there are some issues with elevation, textures, and object placement that are yet to be refined. You can download NC08 Tusquittee Landing Airport on Flightsim.to.
