FlightFX Updates Chicago Executive Airport

Chicago Executive Airport, one of the busiest corporate and general aviation hubs in the Upper Midwest, has been updated to version 2.1 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Located just north of Chicago, this airport plays a vital role in the region, serving as a key reliever for O'Hare International Airport. It spans over 412 acres and houses 325 aircraft, including 57 corporate jets. With its three active runways, Chicago Executive operates 24 hours a day, making it a crucial asset for private airplane owners, flight schools, and major corporations alike.

The newly updated version 2.1 continues to build on the detailed work that has gone into crafting over 30 custom structures and faithfully recreating the airport's layout, right down to the intricately arranged Southeastern GA parking. The development team, with special thanks to Austin Kroeckel, Nick Lill, and Benji Gordon, has worked closely with airport staff to ensure an accurate representation of the site. The update also includes natural, undulating runways, realistic landscaping, and custom emissive night-lighting textures that bring the airport to life after dark.

Version 2.1 introduces several important fixes and improvements, including cleaned-up edge lighting on the main runway, corrected taxiway lines, and adjusted GA parking spots to ensure proper AI aircraft spawning. Other updates include repairs to broken procedures, corrected runway end lights, and a fix for a backwards windsock.

The update is now available on Flightsim.to, free of charge to all purchasers of Chicago Executive.
