FlyByWire Previews New Realistic Lighting for the A32NX

FlyByWire Simulations have announced a complete cockpit lighting system overhaul for the wonderful FlyByWire A32NX on their Facebook page. As reported by them, this overhaul includes changes to clock power behaviour, wing lights, and new glass textures. This new lighting system should provide more authenticity to the virtual cockpit, with proper reflections and enhanced ambient lighting, making night operations in the A32NX even more immersive. This lighting system overhaul is currently available in the Development and Experimental versions of the A32NX download.

The team also mentioned in the comments of the post that one of the next steps in their development process is making their own custom 3D model of the plane instead of using the default Asobo A320neo model they’ve been using so far. This will allow them to implement animated opening doors and windows, along with a virtual cabin. The team said it’s being worked on, but there is still quite a way to go.

The FlyByWire A32NX project is a community-developed Airbus A320neo add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Their vast development team is made up of volunteers, who work in their free time to develop this completely free add-on for MSFS.
