Flying Fries has released version 2.0.1 of its Hughes XF-11 for Microsoft Flight Simulator, bringing a range of enhancements, fixes, and new features to this highly detailed rendition of the rare reconnaissance aircraft. The XF-11, originally designed in the 1940s by Hughes Aircraft for the U.S. Air Force, was an ambitious twin-engine platform with exceptional speed, altitude capability, and range. However, its first prototype suffered a crash on its maiden flight, cutting its real-world career short.
This latest update introduces a fully custom sound pack, which improves the audio experience with realistic engine and cockpit sounds. A noise reduction option has also been added to the interactive clipboard, giving you control over cockpit sound levels. The update also includes new animated "Remove Before Flight" tags and ribbons on exterior covers, refined exterior geometry, and a re-textured fuel truck. The cockpit has received updates as well, with improved textures, new objects, and additional interactions — such as the ability to consume items from the food basket.

Further refinements include fixes to transparency issues, improved lighting effects, and adjustments to cockpit camera positions. On the technical side, the update brings code optimization, modernized startup scripts, and an updated user manual to reflect the new features.

With its detailed flight model, custom systems, and a range of interactive elements — including functional circuit breakers, a complex fuel system, and optional random failures — the Flying Fries XF-11 continues to offer an immersive experience. The update is now available on Flightsim.to.
