Freeware for KINT - Smith Reynolds Airport Released

Smith Reynolds Airport (IATA: INT, ICAO: KINT, FAA LID: INT) is a public airport situated just three miles northeast of Winston-Salem in Forsyth County, North Carolina. This facility, spanning 702 acres, has two runways and primarily serves general aviation and flight training. While the airport no longer hosts scheduled passenger airline flights, which are instead handled by the nearby Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, it remains an active hub for various aviation activities. Smith Reynolds once drew significant attention for its annual air show, although this event has not taken place since 2015. Today, the airport continues to support the local aviation community with its flight schools, maintenance facilities, and an operational control tower that functions from 6:00 AM to 9:30 PM throughout the year.

The latest addition to Microsoft Flight Simulator's extensive airport collection is the KINT - Smith Reynolds Airport, crafted by creator danielsjam. This rendition of Smith Reynolds Airport is noteworthy for being the creator's first project to incorporate sloping terrain. One of the standout features of this add-on is the internal model of the ATC tower, which includes a console provided by the UK2000 common libraries available on the Marketplace. Additionally, the airport's Forsyth Tech center is brought to life with animated gates, which operate daily from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM local time. Outside of these hours, users can manually open the gates by hiding the aircraft yoke.

All models in this add-on are handcrafted. However, you should be aware of some known issues, particularly the uneven, bumpy terrain in certain locations. As with all community-created content, supporting the creator is essential to encouraging further development and updates. Consider donating to danielsjam to help sustain their work on this and future projects.
