Freeware Release for EGLC - London City Airport by TheRedFox

London City Airport (EGLC), situated in the Royal Docks area of East London, is one of London’s smallest airports by area and is well known for its distinctively steep approach, designed to accommodate nearby urban development and the Thames River. The airport primarily serves short-haul destinations, making it popular among business travelers and tourists looking for quick access to the city center. Due to its unique positioning and approach, the airport presents a unique experience for pilots both in real life and within Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Community Developer TheRedFox has released a detailed, freeware add-on for London City Airport (EGLC) in Microsoft Flight Simulator. This add-on introduces significant enhancements to the airport’s realism and navigational precision, making use of customized ILS and PAPI lighting at a 5.5° angle. This lighting, alongside night illumination, supports a realistic flying experience under various conditions. The add-on also includes a faithfully recreated terminal building, a remote control tower, and carefully crafted ground textures and markings.

For pilots looking to add static aircraft to the scenery, an optional secondary file is included. This feature is designed for use with FSLTL and enables the addition of static aircraft, which fill various gates throughout the airport. Due to the airport’s spatial constraints, not all parking positions align with real-world layouts, and some spots (gates 3-10, 21-24) are unavailable for AI aircraft, while gates 25-28 have been adapted slightly for enhanced AI functionality.

To install this add-on, simply download and unzip the provided files, then place them in your community folder. For those interested in supporting TheRedFox’s efforts, there is an option to make a donation, which certainly helps the creator to fund future updates and new projects.
