Freeware Release: KCSG -Columbus Airport

Columbus Airport (IATA: CSG, ICAO: KCSG, FAA LID: CSG), formerly known as Columbus Metropolitan Airport, serves Georgia's second largest city, Columbus. Located four miles northeast of Columbus in Muscogee County, it stands as the fourth busiest airport in Georgia. The airport spans 680 acres at an elevation of 397 feet, featuring two asphalt runways. Historically, it has seen significant airline activity since Eastern Airlines flights began in 1944, followed by Delta in 1947 and Southern in 1949.

The new scenery add-on for Columbus Airport, created by Creator danielsjam and available on Flightsim.to, introduces a handcrafted remodel of the airport. Key features of this add-on include:

  • Animated Hangar Doors: The open hangar with animated doors operates between 6 am and 11 pm local time. Outside these hours, the doors can be opened by hiding the aircraft yoke.
  • Animated Airport Surveillance Radar (ASR): Provided by MyPhysicalWorld, this feature adds dynamic radar animation to the scenery.
  • Internal ATC Tower Model: Sourced from the UK2000 Common Library, available on the Market Place, this model enhances the realism of the ATC tower.
  • Animated Flags: The Windy Things package brings the airport to life with animated flags.

To address the discrepancy between the in-simulator data and actual satellite imagery, the width of runway 13/31 has been corrected from 46 meters (150.919 feet) to 23 meters (75.4593 feet). A custom aerial image is included to cover up this modification. You can download this freeware on Flightsim.to.
