Impulse Simulations has released Version 2 of its Townsville Landmarks add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator, bringing a significant upgrade to the virtual representation of this coastal city in north-eastern Queensland. Known for its military presence and growing urban landscape, Townsville features several key landmarks that have been refined in this release.

The update includes improved textures, additional models, and enhanced details. Buildings that were not fully remodeled have been retextured to align with the add-on's overall quality. Version 2.0 furthermore introduces full PBR texturing, hand-crafted high-rises, and a detailed version of North Queensland Stadium. Custom ships, boats, and marinas with navigational markers have been added, while The Strand and its pier have been refined. Night lighting improvements include additional lamps on Castle Hill, highlighting the well-known Saint painting.

Additionally, more than 150 hand-placed 3D models now populate the city, including communication towers around Townsville and Mount Stuart. Other additions include a custom 3D BOM radar tower, animated flags, and various vegetation and road updates. To get the best experience from this add-on, you should ensure that the Australia World Update is installed and that photogrammetry is enabled. The product is optimized for PC and is also compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, though some terrain differences may be noticed at close distances.
Townsville Landmarks Version 2 is now available for purchase at Flightsim.to for $11.95 USD excluding VAT.
