Kern Valley Airport Freeware for Microsoft Flight Simulator Released

Kern Valley Airport, located in the southern Sierra Mountains of Southern California, is a great little airport that offers a unique and challenging experience for pilots. The airport has a single 3,500 ft (1,067 meters) runway and is situated near the Kern River and Isabella Lake. Pilots can enjoy camping next to the river, with their own parking and taxiway. The airport also features the iconic Kern Airport cafe, a popular spot for aviation enthusiasts. Kern Valley Airport has been recreated in Microsoft Flight Simulator by Community Creator vbazillio, who has done an excellent job of bringing the airport to life. The author has added several new features to the airport, including the iconic Kern Cafe custom building, a sloped parking area, parallel wire ropes/cable on the main apron to secure aircraft, and tents and redesigned campgrounds. The only taxiway sign has been added, but players will have to find it!

Other improvements include the addition of a perimeter fence, numerous objects in front of the cafe, a segmented circle for the Windsock, and helipad starting positions. The author has also deleted all unreal autogen taxiway signs, enhanced the terraforming, replaced all default autogen buildings, repositioned taxiways and markings, and revealed the "ELEV 2614" marking on the taxiway. Additionally, the shore and watermask of Lake Isabella close to the airport have been cleaned up, and the traffic pattern location has been fixed to the right for both sides due to the mountain on the east side.

Kern Valley Airport is an excellent addition to Microsoft Flight Simulator. Pilots who enjoy exploring small airports in unique locations with challenging weather conditions should definitely check out Kern Valley Airport and experience the realistic and immersive feel of this unique location.
