MarineRM Releases Futuristic Three-Engine Stealth Fighter

The Chengdu J-36 has recently appeared in Microsoft Flight Simulator, courtesy of developer Marine RM. The aircraft is modeled after the People’s Liberation Army Air Force’s speculative next-generation fighter-bomber, an aircraft that is still undergoing development and has not yet entered operational service. While little is publicly known about the real-world J-36, the add-on interprets the concept as a stealth-capable aircraft with a rare three-engine configuration, designed to balance agility, range, and strike capability.

Marine RM has recreated the J-36 with a focus on both cockpit systems and flight dynamics. The two-seat cockpit includes a HUD, autopilot, radio, navigation suite, and interactive aircraft management systems. A cold-and-dark start procedure is available, though an automatic starter is also included for those who prefer a quicker start. The autopilot requires some learning, as inputs must be confirmed through ENT and CLR functions before activation, but this mirrors the structured workflow found in real-world avionics.

The aircraft comes equipped with detailed PBR 4K textures, a fully modeled interior, and functioning bay weapon animations. Lighting, ground equipment such as chocks and GPU, and night operation features are all included. Fifteen liveries are available, covering a range of paint schemes.

The flight dynamics are designed to reflect the concept of a highly capable strike aircraft. The three engines provide significant thrust, making afterburner takeoffs a powerful experience. Landing speeds are relatively low, around 140 knots or less, due to the wing configuration, though careful handling is recommended to ensure stability during approach.
