New Freeware Release: KTOP - Philip Billard Municipal Airport

Topeka, the capital city of Kansas, is home to two public airports. The larger KFOE Topeka Regional also serves as a base for the Kansas Air National Guard's KC-135 Stratotankers. Meanwhile, the smaller KTOP Philip Billard Municipal Airport caters primarily to general aviation. A new freeware scenery add-on by gunther aims to enhance the representation of KTOP in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Gunther's KTOP add-on seeks to capture the unique character of Philip Billard Municipal Airport, despite the challenges posed by the ongoing and varied development around the airfield. The scenery attempts to reflect the current state of the airport, incorporating multiple types of pavement, ground markings, and perimeter fences visible from Google Earth imagery. Gunther has updated the taxiways to align with the latest Google Earth images and introduced a new terminal structure that matches the size and footprint of the real building, even if the appearance is not an exact replica.

This scenery relies heavily on default objects and textures available within the simulator, alongside contributions from skilled scenery object creators. Specific dependencies are listed in the download package, with three essential components from other Microsoft Flight Simulator scenery packs: Longreach (YLRE), Lake Tahoe (KTVL), and Cologne-Bonn (EDDK). Gunther's KTOP Philip Billard Municipal Airport add-on is available for free.
