Welcome to Mauterndorf! Flugplatz Mauterndorf is a private airfield situated near Mauterndorf in the Salzburg region of Austria. Nestled in the picturesque Alps, this small mountainous village in the Lungau area is home to Austria's highest elevated airfield, making it an ideal base for powered aircraft and gliders. The airfield provides perfect conditions for soaring over the Alps or taking scenic flights to the city of Salzburg.
In collaboration with Troglodytus, the freeware release of LOSM airfield offers a representation of this airfield that includes a variety of features designed to enhance the realism and immersion. Key features of this release include:
- Handcrafted Airport Buildings and Facilities: The airfield buildings and facilities have been recreated using optimized high-resolution PBR materials.
- Detailed Surroundings: The scenery includes handcrafted models of nearby industries, chalet houses, and football pitches, as well as a detailed rendition of the Mauterndorf Castle.
- Precision Runway: The runway has been accurately modeled with precise topography, markings, and lines.
- Terraforming: The airport area has been terraformed to match real-world data as closely as possible, using high-resolution LIDAR DEM data.
- Custom Ortho/Satellite Imagery: High-definition ortho/satellite imagery for the airport area and medium-definition imagery for the surrounding valley area have been included to enhance visual fidelity.
- Enhanced Vegetation: Vegetation in the Mauterndorf and Tamsweg areas has been adjusted for greater accuracy.
- Lively Airport Environment: Numerous ground objects and interior details have been added to make the airport more vibrant and realistic.
- Custom SimObjects: Unique sim objects such as windsocks, wind tees, and parasols.
- Cold and Dark Starts: Pilots can begin their flights from a cold and dark state inside the hangar.
- Additional Landmark: Moosham Castle near the airfield is included in the latest update of the 'Austrian Landmark Project'.
To install this freeware, simply drag the unzipped "littlekrg-troglodytus-airport-losm-mauterndorf" folder into your community folder. For a more immersive experience, it is highly recommended to also copy the "littlekrg-troglodytus-airport-logk-aerial" folder into your community folder.
