Gate17 has released a new update for its ongoing freeware project, 👉 EDDN – Nuremberg Airport “Albrecht Dürer”, bringing version 0.4.0 of the scenery to Microsoft Flight Simulator. The project continues to evolve toward a detailed and realistic recreation of Nuremberg Airport, one of Bavaria’s key aviation hubs, and marks Gate17’s first venture into airport development for the simulator.

This latest update introduces two major new custom 3D structures — the airport’s fire station and a large warehouse adjacent to the apron. The control tower has also received strobe lighting, while Hangar 8 of FAI Aviation Group now features its characteristic pink illumination, adding to the airport’s distinctive nighttime atmosphere. Additional refinements include improved ground markings across the eastern apron and an updated GSX profile for more accurate parking and equipment positions.
Gate17’s work focuses on rebuilding Nuremberg Airport from the ground up to better reflect its real-world counterpart. The scenery features an accurate airport layout with corrected elevation profiles, parking stands, and taxiway signage. Several custom-modeled buildings are already included, such as the control tower, Ryanair and Aero-Dienst hangars, and the DRF Luftrettung helicopter base. Future updates are expected to add the terminal complex and other nearby facilities.

Although still in alpha, the scenery is fully functional and compatible with GSX Pro through the provided configuration file. No additional dependencies are required. Gate17’s EDDN – Nuremberg Airport (Alpha) new veresion can now be downloaded 👉 for free from Flightsim.to.
