Pune International Airport Released for Microsoft Flight Simulator

The long-requested scenery of Pune International Airport (VAPO/PNQ) has arrived on Flightsim.to, created by developer Dhruvs17 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. The airport, located in Lohagaon approximately 11 kilometers northeast of Pune’s city center, serves as both a civilian airport and a key Indian Air Force base. As the ninth-busiest airport in India, it connects major domestic and several international destinations, making it an important hub for regional and long-haul operations alike.

This freeware scenery brings a comprehensive overhaul of the default airport, which until now lacked the detailed representation simmers expected for such a significant Indian airfield. The project recreates Pune’s terminal complex — including both the older T1 and the new T2 buildings — along with the private jet hangar and complete airside infrastructure. All real-world gates and taxiways have been implemented, including accurate markings and corrected ILS alignment for Runway 28.

Among the key improvements are realistic runway and PAPI lighting, properly placed military aircraft such as Sukhois and cargo transports, and improved ground textures reflecting the grassy, greener environment found at the actual aerodrome. The developer has also paid particular attention to smaller visual cues that define the airport’s character, such as the dashed white centerline on taxiway P — a detail true to the published airport charts.

While the terminal interior remains a work in progress, the developer notes that this release prioritizes performance and accuracy for MSFS 2020. A dedicated MSFS 2024 version is currently in development. The scenery is compatible with VATSIM operations. The latest update, version 1.0.1, refines several textures and assets, fixing white tire materials, correcting missing textures on parked aircraft, and improving apron details and terminal proportions.
