SceneryTR Design Releases Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport

SceneryTR Design has released a detailed rendition of Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator, now available for both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024. Identified by ICAO code LTFJ and IATA code SAW, Sabiha Gökçen is Istanbul’s main airport on the Asian side and ranks among the top ten European airports by passenger traffic. The airport carries historical significance as it is named after Sabiha Gökçen, the first Turkish female aviator and the world’s first female combat pilot.

In real-world operations, Sabiha Gökçen functions as a major hub for low-cost carriers, most prominently Pegasus Airlines and AJet. Over the past years, the airport has undergone continuous expansion, highlighted by the introduction of a second runway, which has significantly increased capacity and operational flexibility. This scenery aims to reflect that modern and constantly evolving character, making it particularly relevant if you fly regional, short-haul, or domestic routes within Turkey and surrounding regions.

The add-on recreates the airport buildings and nearby environment with a strong focus on accuracy while remaining optimized for performance. Custom ground textures and detailed apron and taxiway markings define the layout, while sloped runways and taxiways represent the real-world elevation changes across the airfield. Animated jetways and custom static objects contribute to a more convincing ramp environment, especially when combined with live traffic or online flying.

Photorealistic high-resolution textures are used across terminal buildings, supported by custom night textures that maintain visual clarity during evening and night operations. PBR materials are applied to ground surfaces and models. For ground operations, the scenery includes a dedicated GSX profile, which aligns parking stands, pushback routes, and services with the airport’s real-world layout.
