Shadescene Releases YMER - Merimbula Airport

Shadescene has recreated Merimbula Airport (IATA: MIM, ICAO: YMER) for Microsoft Flight Simulator, bringing a detailed rendition of this important regional gateway on the Sapphire Coast of New South Wales. Serving as the primary connection between the Bega Valley region and major Australian cities such as Sydney and Melbourne, Merimbula is a small but significant hub that balances scenic beauty with essential transport links. Its coastal approach, overlooking the pristine waters of Merimbula Bay, makes it a particularly attractive destination for regional pilots and bush flyers alike.

The new scenery recreates Merimbula Airport with custom terraforming and detailed modeling of key facilities including the passenger terminal and hangars. Shadescene has implemented hand-crafted taxiways, custom ground textures, and an accurate lighting setup for both day and night operations. The inclusion of hand-placed runway and taxiway lights enhances immersion during low-light departures and arrivals, while the bespoke ground markings help deliver a faithful representation of the real-world airport environment.

Operationally, Merimbula is served by QantasLink and Regional Express (Rex), offering scheduled flights to Sydney and Melbourne. The airport’s combination of short runway operations, coastal winds, and surrounding terrain make it an engaging destination for regional jet and turboprop pilots within Microsoft Flight Simulator.
