TFDi Design has released its MD-11 aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The aircraft is an updated version of the company’s previously released MD-11 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and introduces a range of technical, visual, and functional changes intended to align with the newer simulator platform. The MD-11 is a three-engine widebody aircraft that remains of interest to flight simulation users due to its unique systems and operational characteristics. The MSFS 2024 version is not limited to visual changes and includes updates to aircraft systems, modeling, and simulator integration. According to TFDi Design, development focused on adapting the aircraft to the updated simulator architecture while expanding system depth and interaction.
Systems and Avionics
The MD-11 for MSFS 2024 includes an updated systems simulation designed to reflect real-world aircraft behavior. Notable elements include:
- Flight Management System (FMS): Support for procedures such as Standard Instrument Departures (SIDs) and Standard Terminal Arrival Routes (STARs).
- Aircraft Systems: Modeled systems include hydraulics, fuel management, and electrical systems, with increased system interdependence compared to earlier versions.
- Cockpit: The flight deck has been updated with higher-resolution textures and configurable elements.
- Exterior Model: The external model includes animated and interactive components such as doors and ground service connections.
- Sound Package: Audio has been developed in collaboration with Echo 19 Audio and includes updated engine and environmental sounds.
For MSFS 2024, the MD-11 introduces an interactive passenger cabin. You can interact with selected cabin elements, including overhead bins and lavatories. This feature is optional and does not affect aircraft operation. An optional Extended Simulation Package is available for users seeking additional system interaction. This package is intended for pilots who prefer advanced procedural and failure-based simulation. Features include:
- Circuit Breakers: Functional circuit breakers allowing manual system management.
- Failure Modeling: More than 230 failure scenarios covering a range of system malfunctions and emergency situations.
Pricing
TFDi Design has implemented a modular pricing structure:
- Base Package (Passenger or Freighter): USD $69.99
- Additional Variant Expansion: USD $9.99
- Extended Simulation Package: USD $4.99
Upgrade Path
Users who already own the MD-11 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 will receive a free visual update for that version. Access to the MSFS 2024 version and its new features requires a paid upgrade fee of USD $5.
