Frederick Municipal Airport in Maryland is a vital hub for general aviation. Located near the city of Frederick, this airport features a robust set of facilities, including runways, taxiways, and hangars. Recently, an important update for KFDK has been released by FlicMcFly. Version 2.1 is significant as it aligns with the improvements brought by the Microsoft Flight Simulator City Update 9: Northeastern USA, released on July 2, 2024. This City Update provided newer satellite imagery and photogrammetry for the Frederick area, but did not specifically enhance the airport itself beyond these visual updates. In response, FlicMcFly has updated the airport to ensure it integrates with the newly enhanced terrain imagery.

One of the standout features of Version 2.1 is the addition of custom 3D models for the AOPA National Aviation Community Center hangars. The update also includes several minor fixes to improve the overall user experience. Version 2.0 marked a comprehensive overhaul to ensure compatibility with the City Update 9.
Additional features include:
- Cleaning up satellite ground imagery and adding realistic elements like grass and construction clutter.
- Adjusting the tree placement within the airport boundary and surrounding custom buildings to reflect accurate satellite photos.
- Manual placement of precision runway and taxiway markings, lights, and signs.
- Replacement of AI buildings with more realistic objects, with most on-airport structures being custom built.
- Proper placement of ILS and glideslope antennas, windsocks, and segmented circles.
- Addition of numerous GA parking spots and static aircraft, as well as helipads and fuel stations.
- Enhanced night lighting across main hangar areas and buildings.
- Corrections to VASI types and locations, fencing around parking areas, and detailed ground markings.

The recent changelog for Version 2.1 highlights the addition of new custom 3D models, improved aprons, fixed taxiway and runway markings, added trees for better aesthetics, and the introduction of a new GA parking spot at the NACC hangars.
