VATSIM's Cross Africa Event Returns

Cross Africa is back and ready to take flight once again. VATSSA, Maghreb vACC, and Egypt vACC are delighted to invite all pilots to participate in this year's edition of Cross Africa - Southbound, scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 5th, 2023. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable adventure across the vast landscapes of Africa. The event kicks off at 0900z, offering pilots the choice to depart from either Casablanca (GMMN) or Cairo (HECA) on exhilarating flights to Accra (DGAA) or Entebbe (HUEN). For those seeking an even greater challenge, there's an option to embark on a long-haul journey all the way to Johannesburg (FAOR). Throughout the entire journey, pilots will be treated to breathtaking views of Africa, including the iconic Sahara Desert, the Congo Basin, the Lake Victoria, and many other hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

One of the highlights of the event is the extensive air traffic control coverage that will be available throughout the continent. Expect a full day of seamless coordination and support from ATC professionals. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience, slot bookings will be available according to the origin airport starting from July 15th. Currently, the VATSSA Bookings have filled 52 slots for Casablanca/Cairo, while Entebbe/Accra have seen 25 slots being reserved.
