Freeware VOHS - Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Released
Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (VOHS) serves as a major gateway to southern India, located in Shamshabad, Hyderabad. As one of the busiest airports in the country, VOHS facilitates both domestic and international traffic, known for its modern infrastructure and expanding facilities. The developer behind the Gandhi International Airport add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator has spent over two years enhancing this rendition of the airport, which is now available as Version 2. The latest update introduces an increased level of detail, including fully modeled interiors, expanded terminal areas, custom jetways and newly added 3D static people in the terminal.
While this is the developer's most comprehensive and detailed project to date, a few areas remain under development. For instance, the airport entrance ramp is reused from a previous version, and the AeroPlaza is yet to be fully modeled. However, the developer encourages users to stay tuned for future updates as these elements are completed. In addition to visual improvements, several bugs have been addressed in this release. Fixes include correcting the nighttime lighting for the ATC tower, removing extra windsocks at the runways, and refining the parking radius for heavy gates to ensure accurate placement of large aircraft by traffic add-ons like FSTL. Another improvement includes the addition of static regional ground vehicles from key service providers, Indigo and SpiceJet.
A GSX profile for VOHS, created by Ron Baruah, also accompanies this release. It enhances ground services, providing animated passengers, accurate parking positions, and ground handling services unique to VOHS. The scenery itself, while visually impressive, requires a powerful PC to run smoothly, due to the high object count and detail level. Though the add-on is still a work in progress, with areas like the entrance remodel, AeroPlaza food court, and cargo terminal yet to be finalized, this version already marks a significant improvement over its predecessor. For users who may face performance issues, the developer has suggested that a "lite" version may be made available in the future.
