Witus Works Releases F-20A Hammerhead Block 20

Witus Works has released the ⭐ F-20A Hammerhead Block 20, a fictional next-generation fighter jet concept for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Inspired by the underappreciated F-20 Tigershark and its lineage through the F-5, this aircraft is imagined as a modern evolution of those designs—small, agile, and suited to complementing 5th-generation platforms like the F-35 in national defense roles.

The concept for this virtual aircraft was originally proposed in 2019 by a Royal Danish Air Force officer, emphasizing the design principles of the so-called “fighter mafia” — prioritizing simplicity, affordability, and maintainability. In keeping with that ethos, the Hammerhead is designed to borrow existing components and systems such as the F110 engine from the F-16 and avionics resembling those of 4th-generation fighters. Visually and aerodynamically, the design pulls from multiple real-world aircraft including the YF-23, F-16, F/A-18, SR-71, and the F-35, combining features like diverterless intakes, pelican tail configuration, and canards for short takeoff and high maneuverability.

As for the product, the aircraft is based on the F/A-18 flight model, and while still a work in progress, it already includes several advanced systems and a unique design. However, there are some known issues: cold starts currently require a manual command, the throttle can inadvertently shut down the engine if pulled past idle, and the landing gear has speed-dependent limitations that can affect takeoff and landing procedures. Visual inconsistencies such as afterburner effects and missing instrumentation like the fuel gauge are also noted.

A roadmap is in place for future updates, including additional loadout variants for CAS and SEAD roles, new liveries for various air forces, refinements to the flight model, and further cockpit detailing. You can purchase F-20A Hammerhead ⭐ here on Flightsim.to.
