World Trade Center Complex Released for Microsoft Flight Simulator

A new mod for Microsoft Flight Simulator brings the iconic and historic World Trade Center complex, as it stood from 1966 to 2001, back to the virtual skies. The project, titled The Original World Trade Center Complex 2001 "Twin Towers", aims to recreate the seven original buildings of the World Trade Center with a high level of detail, including the famous Twin Towers. Released by Arkid77, this mod offers a faithful representation of one of the world’s most recognizable landmarks before its tragic destruction in 2001.

Arkid77 highlights the effort put into enhancing both the model and textures of the complex. This includes COMP textures, allowing features like the windows and statues around the complex to be rendered with lifelike quality. Night textures have also been included, ensuring that the towers look equally impressive after dark. Moreover, the helipads located atop both towers are fully landable.

Although the mod is still a work in progress — some aspects, like emissive textures and lighting, are not yet completed — it is available for download now as freeware. As the developer makes clear, this mod is intended as a respectful recreation of the original complex. If you enjoy this mod and appreciate the effort behind its creation, consider making a donation to the developer to support further projects like this one.
