Microsoft confirms Sim Update 13 Beta and Gamescom Preview

Sim Update 13 is preparing for takeoff. Asobo Studios has addressed the community's concerns about the missing Scenery Gateway system as well. Sim Update 13 is set to follow in mid-August, as announced recently by Jörg Neumann, and further details about this forthcoming update have just been shared by the developers at Asobo. For those who've already registered for public beta testing, the Sim Update 13 beta will be automatically provided as soon as it's available.

Among the features to look forward to are improvements to the piston engine and additional functions and bug fixes for the Boeing 747 and 787 models. Regrettably, the Scenery Gateway system has not been released alongside World Update 14, contrary to the initial roadmap. The development team has acknowledged this change and offered an apology, clarifying that the Scenery Portal is currently undergoing a review for data privacy compliance. The revised launch is now slated for September 2023. A substantial number of airports are still awaiting enhancements for a more authentic real-world representation. This gap is intended to be bridged by the Scenery Gateway System -  a collaborative platform for the community. Its primary function is to empower any community member to modify and refine default airports, subsequently sharing these improvements with the world through the platform. Whether it's updating a runway number or rectifying overlapping vegetation, users can conveniently make these adjustments for greater accuracy. It's important to note that community members can only employ default resources available in the simulator. This regulation protects the contributions of third-party developers while ensuring both PC and Xbox users can effortlessly update and modify their airports.

The latest content for the simulation will be playable at the Xbox booth in Hall 8 from August 24th to 27th in Cologne, Germany, alongside other games from Microsoft. The team will be waiting to welcome hobbyist pilots at the North entrance. On August 26th, a special community event for fans of Microsoft Flight Simulator will be held in Cologne. Attendance is limited, including a complimentary dinner, so interested parties are advised to fill out this participation form. Tickets for Gamescom are already on sale.
